The value of a good portrait has been on the rise in recent years. A good one could get you a date, or a spouse, or a job, or a choice role. Project a more professional image in an online profile or web page with a portrait that tells a story.
My work as a journalist influences my approach to portraits and headshots. The environmental portrait is a staple of journalism, portraying the subject in the context of their home, office, or other significant space. For several years I photographed all the faculty of the Biology Department at Indiana University (gallery coming soon). An assignment to make images of Moms for the US Army took me to three locations around the US (Green Bay, Los Angeles, and Hawaii). More recently I photographed the New York staff of a multi-national banking organization, and an assignment for the Louisville Courier Journal here in NYC.
An artist shouldn't have to starve because they need headshots. I worked with a NY non-profit for performance artists to develop a fundraising project involving head shots which may happen again. I'm working on arranging headshot sessions where 8-12 people can get updated images made with an experienced makeup artist involved. Contact me for more information and scheduling.
