Building communities around sports

Trading cards are a great way for your kids to preserve their memories of a season playing on a team. We work with a printer that specializes in producing trading cards. They are printed on heavy card stock (not photo prints that are laminated together), with color designs on both sides. We offer unique card designs with room for player information on the back. Sports action photos are my forté, but we can also do posed pictures if preferred.

Lets talk if this sounds interesting.

Our first foray into card printing was for The Baseball Center Fall 2013 season. Working on a very tight schedule, with several systems to get in place (promotions, ordering, printing, fulfillment), was a tall order. We photographed more than 20 games, producing a mountain of images. There were kinks to work out of the printing process, but in the end more than half the families ordered the cards. Lessons were learned that will enhance the experience going forward.

I've proposed doing this again for the league, and introducing new elements to help build a community among the parents with the league organizers. Communicating with the families can be tricky as everyone is dealing with e-mail overload so it takes a concerted effort to get this off the ground.

Check back for updates on when we will try this again.

This video showcases images made for this the Baseball Center and includes images from all four leagues, and most of the games we shot.
